God's Abiding Love

During this season of Lent, our parish is praying the daily devotions from the Henri J.M. Nouwen booklet, "God's Abiding Love" which is available at the church.

Henri Nouwen is one of the most widely read spirituality authors of all time. He has an almost uncanny ability to probe the depths of his own heartfelt desires and, in that search, uncover God’s abiding love for us. His search for God becomes our search for God.

Each day as we walk through Lent the daily devotions by Nouwen are united with a specific Bible verse.

If you have not picked up your copy of this devotional booklet, please stop by the church for a copy today.

New Policy-St. Barnabas Is Nut Aware!!

St. Barnabas Anglican Church adopted the following policy at our Annual Vestry on February 25th, 2018. Please read and follow the guidelines below. If you have any questions, please contact our Rector, The Reverend Fran├žois Trottier, or Rector's Warden, Nora Waddell.

SUNDAY COFFEE HOUR

Hints for Nut Safe Snack Prep

In order to help keep St.Barnabas members with severe food allergies safe, we recommend that volunteers:

Wash hands with soap and water before unpackaging foods/snacks

Read ingredients labels on all coffee hour snacks (i.e., cookie packages) to be sure they do not contain peanuts, tree nuts or traces of nuts (peanuts or various tree nuts may be listed within the ingredients list or nuts could be listed in a “Contains” statement beneath the list of ingredients)

Place nut-free snack onto a plate

Place the original snack packaging (wrapper, carton, etc.) under the plate so that individuals with food allergies will be able to double-check the label for potential food allergens

PLEASE NOTE: These suggestions will help reduce the risk of cross-contamination to individuals with peanut/tree nut allergies. Thank you for helping keep members of our church and Deep River community safe and healthy.

Register for Messy Church Coming Up On February 23!!!

Messy Church is an interdenominational ministry of fellowship and worship that was developed in the UK in 2004 and is now practiced in churches worldwide including 200 churches in Canada.
We held our first Messy Church at St Barnabas in November and now invite all members of the community to attend our second Messy Church evening on Friday February 23rd 5-7:00p.m.

Messy Church provides an opportunity for people of all ages but primarily families of young children to worship God, while enjoying fun, fellowship and a home cooked meal in a child-oriented space and format.
Our theme on Feb 23rd will be the Zacchaeus story. Zacchaeus was a short man who climbed a tree in order to be able to see Jesus from above the crowds. His experience changed his life.

We will enjoy crafts and activities centred on this theme, watch the Bible story acted out with puppets, sing songs and end our evening with a home cooked meal.

Please join us for this special evening. There is no charge but a free-will offering will be gratefully received.

For more information and to register* to attend please contact: 613-584-4131, office_stbarnabas@bell.net.

You can register on this page by clicking on the Messy Church Graphic on the upper right.

*Please note that registration by noon of February 20th is essential so we know numbers for the meal.
